Unified Commerce

Despite its move to Shopify, Bentley’s eCommerce platform encountered several obstacles:

  • Technical Limitations: Legacy components and inefficient apps restricted access to Shopify Plus’s native features, impacting scalability and innovation.
  • Limited Omnichannel Capabilities: Features such as Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store (BOPIS) and ship-from-store were not fully implemented, limiting fulfillment flexibility.
  • Lack of Inventory Transparency: Customers and store associates struggled with incomplete real-time inventory visibility, affecting both sales and customer trust.
  • Outdated Customer Experience: The design lacked modern eCommerce standards, delivering a less engaging and intuitive shopping journey.
  • POS Integration Data: During the transition to Shopify POS, Bentley required access to historical transaction data from their old POS system to maintain operations.

"We wanted to grow our eCommerce revenue from 5% to over 10% of total sales, but the limitations of our previous setup were holding us back," Bentley shared. Bentley also aimed to unlock advanced capabilities such as CRM integration, pre-orders, and loyalty programs, which required a robust, unified commerce platform.
